Bio

Oaces was born in Italy before moving to California at a very young age. His parents, of Somali origin, went to school at UCLA. As his mother had family in Italy, she decided she wanted to give birth with her family around her. By age eight, he had lived in three different states before finally moving to--and settling in-- NYC. As such, he attributes his love of speaking on human trials and triumphs in his music to his childhood of moving from state to state, experiencing different places, people, and points of view.

His love and curiosity for hiphop was instilled in him through his older cousins during his family trips to Maryland. The stories told by Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, and Tupac sparked a creative fire in him, one that he honed throughout the years. The technical abilities, cadences, and wordplay of other artists such as Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake helped him learn the craft, and improve as an artist himself. His first two projects, One for the Road, and The Road Less Travelled, showcased a young MC in search of himself, his sound, and his place within hiphop. Both projects illustrated an artist with a raw talent and ability, who sought to carve his own name through his studying of those that came before him.

By 2019, and many hours spent on honing his craft, Oaces began to display his talents on open mic and showcase stages throughout NYC. His first single, Squad Reppin, showed an artist in control of his sonic environment. His subsequent singles would highlight the artist's versatility: not just a talented wordsmith of an Emcee, Oaces' ability to song write, and pen capturing hooks, would shine brightly with songs such as Do It Right, Family First, and Wavy.

A lover of cinema, Oaces aims to create a visual story not only through his music, but also through his music videos. As such, he directs his music videos, and oversees the creative direction of his photoshoots. Oaces is that artist who blends sounds and visuals so as to create a sonic world for his audience to immerse themselves in.
